A September to Remember at Montgomery Place

September always feels like a month of transition—the air turned a little crisper, football returned, and pumpkin spice quietly slipped back into our mugs. It was also a month full of moments that brought our Montgomery Place community together in celebration, reflection, and fun.
We began with Labor Day, honoring the hard work and dedication of Americans everywhere. From there, the month quickly filled with special occasions worth noting.
A few highlights stood out for us here at Montgomery Place:
Perfect Apple Pie Day – With Illinois’ own Abraham Lincoln known as a fan of apple pie, it felt like a hometown holiday. Residents enjoyed a sweet slice, and many paired it with a warm cup of coffee in honor of National Coffee Day ☕.
Grandparents Day – Always a favorite. We celebrated the love, wisdom, and joy grandparents bring into every family. The hugs and attention shared that day reminded us how lucky we are to have so many generations gathered here.
Patriot Day, September 11th – Together we paused to remember the tragedy of 9/11, honoring the lives lost, the heroes who stood tall, and the resilience of our nation.
Rosh Hashanah – Residents joined in wishing sweet beginnings for the Jewish New Year, embracing renewal, reflection, and community.
National Falls Prevention Awareness Month – Wellness and safety remained a priority all month long. Our personal trainer, Shawn, led balance and strengthening classes, helping residents move with confidence and care.
September also came with some lighthearted calendar moments. We already enjoyed National Cheese Pizza Day (Sept. 5), and later in the month we still have Talk Like a Pirate Day (Sept. 19), National Ice Cream Cone Day (Sept. 22), and National Good Neighbor Day (Sept. 28) to look forward to.
So whether you’re enjoying a slice of pie, sipping coffee, hugging your grandkids, or reflecting on days of remembrance, September truly is a month to remember.
